Philadelphia, 2094. Robot servants run the bars and the buses, and the dying can upload their minds and walk around in rented robot bodies.

Rookie FBI agent Rayne Reynolds is the daughter of the man who invented consciousness transfer. Her parents died five years ago when a bus swerved into their car. Now the robots are going rogue and killing people, and Rayne thinks someone is behind it.

Britt Hansen is a reformed teenage hacker. On a job he breaks into one of those robots and finds video proving the Reynolds crash was no accident. Before he can use it, he is abducted and forced through the transfer into the Data Mines, a digital underworld where the time you have left is the only currency.

Rayne hunts the conspiracy from above. Britt fights to survive below. They are closing in on the same people.
